Mycool's Story: As told by Patsy his Mother...
Michael Bovell was our son and died as a result of being hit by a train. The full circumstances leading up to this incident will never be known fully, I can only tell my story.
To all who knew Michael he was a friendly, outgoing, kind-hearted and loving person who made everyone feel special.
During the last few months of his life, I had noticed a change in him and knew that something was wrong with him. I could not put it down to any one thing but I knew he needed help. I tried to get an appointment with our GP for 3 weeks and finally went with him on Friday 11th April 2014. The GP spoke to him with me in the room and based on what Michael told him, said that it sounded like a chemical imbalance for which he would make a mental health referral and we would hear from them within 2 weeks. He also asked him if he had ever felt like harming himself, to which Michael answered No. Michael died the next day.
Michael was born at 33 weeks, we were not sure if he would survive. We were blessed with 22 wonderful years. Mikey was an individual from a very early age. He would go out with bubble wrap taped to his head, which caused concern, but he soon set everyone straight informing them that it was his Ninja Turtle Attire. Mikey was not afraid to be different, he loved pink and he even decided that he would change the spelling of his name to Mycool.
We don’t know the reason for his death although on the day he died he did say that he felt like he was going to die. I tried to reassure him by hugging him and saying “we’re all going to die one day baby”.
We will not question God, because we know that he loves us and is able to make all things work together for our good in the end. Michael was a wonderful and precious gift from God to all of us.
A gift we have now handed back to him.
Break Every Chain: Our assignment now is to break the chains of hopelessness, silence, fear, poverty, depression, worthlessness and addiction that are binding our young people. I hear the chains falling!
