What’s the problem we’re trying to solve?
We know that some young people just need someone to talk to. When they are coping with problems they feel that they cannot talk to anyone, that they have to be strong, grown up or they don't want to bother their parents. Young people need a space and an opportunity to share what is inside with each other or supportive adults and to think about how keeping things inside affects their emotional and mental health and that problems are often not as insurmountable as they seem.
Why do we care about this project?
Michael died quite tragically and we want to be able to help young people in his area to gain a way to break the silence that often surrounds them when they are dealing with problems. Our passion is working with young people to develop a vision for themselves and for them to understand that a positive future is possible even when problems arise by encouraging dreams, listening and equipping them with skills to deal with problems and understand the importance of sharing information.
How will the money be spent?
We need money to put on a fun and information day to promote good emotional and mental health for young people and help them understand how talking helps. Cost £3,000 to create a talking space where young people can share with each other and with supportive adults. Where they can experience a psychologically informed environment and access to counselling and coaching. Cost £4,000
When will we see the difference?
We want the fun day to run in August 2014 in a local community centre or park. We want to launch the talking space in September 2014 providing a local drop in for young people to talk about themselves or share information that they are keeping about another young person they are concerned about. The young person will experience an environment where they can develop a vision for their life and a plan to achieve it. We want to develop a resource of other counselling and support services.

We are a group of friends who are passionate about helping young people to develop a vision and plan for their life, helping them to achieve it with practical help and space to talk & be their selves. Also to let them know that there is hope and help when they are in crisis.
